Here's a question for those who hate their names. Would you ever try and legally change it? I don't know the method for doing it exactly, but I know it must be pretty time consuming/difficult.

Even though my name is ridiculously common (William), I actually do enjoy it.

Regardless, if I didn't like my name, I probably would want to change it. Of course, if there were a lot of implications involved, I would probably just say "screw it" and have people think up of a good nickname to call me by.

I wouldn't do it, but I'm pretty sure that you can change it to almost anything you want.

Funny story. My dad firmly believes I'm going to change my name to Zeik as soon as I move out. Of course, there's no way I'm going to do that. That would be confusing to you guys. http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/6329/xdze4.png

I wouldn't really. When I was little I wanted to name myself "Zack" (or Zak) but I liked my own name.

It's far too easy to walk around with a pseudonym to bother with such formalities. Besides that, legally changing one's name leaves a paper trail. And that's risky when you're trying to throw your old life away and start with a clean slate as a good, law-abiding citizen.
That is what we're talking about, isn't it? http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/8761/ooci6.png

Change my name from Alex to Alex? Doesn't really sound worth it. Tempting, though.

At one point I would have liked to change my surname, but after thinking about I decided I'd like to keep it, there are only girls in my family, so I feel like it's my duty as the eldest and only male gendered child to force my last name on my own future sprogs.

And here's a little something about the name changing process. It does seem complicated.

Would without a doubt, personally I hate my name to no end. Just sounds tacky and isn't very suiting for me, overall.

Too bad it's really expensive.

Really? I mean it's always frustrating as hell to deal with state bureaucracy, and the whole process seems like a pain, but at what point are you required to spend any money?

there's a man out there who changed his name to Sony Playstation

also in England, a man changed his name to Yorkshire Bank Are Facist Bastards because they charged him (i think) a 30 pound overdraft on a 20 pound check
